IG Punjab Orders Immediate Removal of Tinted Windows from Police Vehicles

IG Punjab Orders Immediate Removal of Tinted Windows from Police Vehicles: In a decisive move to strengthen transparency and ensure full compliance with traffic laws, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has ordered the immediate removal of tinted windows from all police vehicles across the province. The new directives are part of a broader campaign aimed at bringing police transportation in line with the same standards and rules that apply to the general public.

Immediate Steps Ordered by IG Punjab

According to the official statement, all police vehicles must remove tinted windows without delay. The instruction applies to every department, unit, formation, and district under the Punjab Police. The purpose of this decision is to promote openness, prevent misuse of official vehicles, and reinforce that no one is above the law.

Ban on Police Vehicles Without Registration Plates

The Punjab Police spokesperson emphasised that no officer or official is allowed to use government or private vehicles or motorcycles without proper registration plates. This directive is aimed at eliminating the growing issue of unregistered or unidentified vehicles being used on roads. This often leads to public confusion and security concerns.

Equal Enforcement of Traffic Laws

A key highlight of the new policy is that traffic laws will now be enforced equally on both citizens and police personnel. Whether it is tinted windows, missing number plates, or compliance with other traffic regulations. Police officers will be held to the same legal standards as everyone else. The spokesperson stressed that this step demonstrates the department’s commitment to fairness and lawful conduct.

Responsibility of Local Police Leadership

To ensure strict implementation, responsibility has been assigned to SHOs, in-charges, district officers, and heads of units or formations. Any violation involving tinted windows, vehicles without number plates, or motorcycles will be directly attributed to these officials. This measure aims to prevent negligence and ensure that officers maintain proper oversight of the vehicles under their command.
