Maryam Nawaz Special Children Program Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken a historic step by launching a comprehensive health screening and empowerment program for special children across the province. For the first time in Punjab’s history, such a large-scale initiative has been started to ensure that children studying in special education centers receive complete healthcare and modern educational opportunities.
The program, which is part of the CM Punjab Autonomous Program, focuses on three main areas: healthcare, education, and digital skill development to help special children live healthier and more independent lives.
Provincial Health Screening Drive for Special Children
On the special instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a massive health screening drive for over 35,600 special children has been launched across Punjab. The program includes detailed medical checkups such as eye testing, dental examinations, and overall health assessments.
More than 20,000 students have already received treatment on the spot at their respective special education centers. In addition, over 9,000 students are being treated in Tehsil Headquarters and District Headquarters Hospitals, while another 5,000 children are receiving advanced treatment in hospitals located in major cities.
This large-scale health initiative reflects Maryam Nawaz’s vision of providing equal healthcare access to every child, regardless of their physical or mental challenges.

Successful Door-to-Door Admission Campaign
Along with the health screening program, a door-to-door campaign has also been launched to ensure that every special child in Punjab has access to quality education. The campaign has shown remarkable success, resulting in over 5,000 new admissions in special education centers across the province.
This effort highlights the government’s strong commitment to inclusive education, ensuring that no special child is left behind due to a lack of awareness or resources.
Skill Development Under the CM Punjab Autonomous Program
To promote self-reliance and digital inclusion, the CM Punjab Autonomous Program has introduced two special skill development courses in special education centers. These include:
- Design and YouTube Content Creation
- Social Media and E-Commerce
The goal of these courses is to equip special students with modern digital and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to earn independently and explore creative opportunities in the digital world.
Upgrading Digital Infrastructure in Special Education Centers
The government has also approved the establishment of 10 new state-of-the-art computer labs in special education centers. Moreover, 8 existing labs will be upgraded with the latest technology to meet modern educational needs.
These developments aim to create an inclusive digital learning environment where special needs can learn, practice, and grow with confidence using advanced tools and technologies.
Training and Incentives for Students and Trainers
Under the same program, 18 master trainers and 1,760 students will be trained to enhance their digital and technical skills. The Punjab government has also announced that the top 50 students who secure leading positions during the training will receive laptops as an incentive.
This initiative not only motivates students to perform their best but also encourages innovation, creativity, and confidence among them. It reflects Maryam Nawaz’s goal of empowering special children through technology and education.
