Nankana Sahib Police Welfare Initiatives
In an exemplary move to ensure the welfare of its officers, the Nankana Sahib Police, led by District Police Officer (DPO) Faraz Ahmed, has disbursed more than Rs 48 lakh for the betterment of its police personnel. This financial aid, in line with the vision of IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, is aimed at providing comprehensive support to the families of police officers and employees, covering everything from medical needs to financial assistance for weddings and scholarships.
The welfare of police personnel is a top priority, as it directly impacts the efficiency and morale of the force. The allocation of these funds underscores the Punjab Police’s commitment to its officers, ensuring they receive the necessary support in both their personal and professional lives.
Welfare Fund Distribution Overview:
The total amount of Rs 48 lakh that has been distributed to Nankana Sahib Police officers is part of an ongoing welfare program designed to address various financial, medical, and social needs. The funds have been directed toward initiatives that provide much-needed support to the families of police officers, demonstrating the force’s commitment to those who serve and protect the community.
Medical and Financial Assistance for Children of Police Officers:
One of the most significant welfare initiatives was the allocation of Rs 360,000 to the children of police officers who are suffering from thalassemia, a serious blood disorder that requires ongoing treatment. This initiative highlights the Punjab Police’s commitment to supporting the health and well-being of officers’ families, especially those dealing with chronic medical conditions.
The funds allocated for these children will help cover medical expenses, easing the financial burden on police families and ensuring that the children receive the necessary care and attention they need for their health.

Support for Police Families – Weddings and Scholarships:
In addition to medical assistance, Rs 260,000 has been distributed as wedding gifts for the daughters of police officers and employees. This is a meaningful gesture, showing support for the social and familial responsibilities of police personnel. Weddings are significant events in any family, and the financial support provided can ease the burden on police officers, allowing them to celebrate these milestones without worrying about financial constraints.
Furthermore, Rs 150,000 was given to three families under the Hifz-ul-Quran scholarship program. This initiative supports the education of children from police families who have memorised the Quran. It not only encourages educational and spiritual growth but also highlights the Punjab Police’s commitment to supporting its officers’ children in their educational pursuits.
Group Insurance, Bonuses, and Salary Support:
The welfare funds also include provisions for financial security through group insurance. Rs 170,000 was allocated to one family under the group insurance scheme, offering financial assistance in the event of a police officer’s unfortunate passing. This form of assistance ensures that the families of officers who face unforeseen tragedies are supported during difficult times.
In addition to insurance, Rs 265,000 was distributed as bonus salaries to two employees. This extra financial support helps to ensure that police officers are fairly compensated for their hard work and dedication, contributing to their financial stability and well-being.
Assistance for Families of Deceased Police Officers:
A large portion of the welfare funds, totalling Rs 35 lakh, was allocated to the families of deceased police officers as financial assistance. This is a crucial initiative that provides support to the families of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the community. In addition to the financial aid, Rs 100,000 was also distributed for burial expenses, ensuring that the families of fallen officers receive the respect and support they deserve during a time of grief.
