Punjab Inaugurates Three-Wheeler Electric Vehicles Plant to Boost EV Sector and Industrial Growth

Punjab Inaugurates Three-Wheeler Electric Vehicles Plant

The Punjab government has taken a significant step toward promoting clean energy and industrial development by inaugurating a three-wheeler electric vehicle plant in Raiwind. The inauguration ceremony was led by Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, who also observed the different stages of electric rickshaw production at the plant. This development marks a major milestone in Punjab’s efforts to advance the electric vehicle (EV) sector and support sustainable economic growth.

Punjab Government’s Commitment to the Electric Vehicle Sector

During the ceremony, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain highlighted the government’s strong focus on the electric vehicle industry under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He shared that the provincial EV policy will soon be announced, along with a new environment credit policy aimed at reducing pollution and promoting eco-friendly transport solutions.

The minister further revealed that Punjab has already ordered 1,000 electric buses from China, and plans are underway to establish a local assembly plant for electric buses. These initiatives aim not only to reduce environmental pollution and smog but also to create new job opportunities and support sustainable transportation in the province.

Promoting Industrial Development in Punjab

In addition to the EV sector, the Punjab government is actively working to strengthen the province’s industrial landscape. Chaudhry Shafi Hussain announced the approval of a 1,400-acre industrial estate in Sialkot, a move aimed at encouraging large-scale business investments. To facilitate industrial growth, the government is providing interest-free loans under the Easy Business Finance Scheme and expanding business facilitation centers to other cities.

A significant reform includes ending the misuse of industrial estate properties for real estate speculation. The government has canceled plots of those who fail to set up industrial units, effectively eliminating the property mafia and ensuring that industrial estates are used for their intended purpose.

New Industrial Projects in Punjab

Punjab is also witnessing the establishment of several new factories to strengthen its industrial base. Seven new factories will be set up in the Bahawalpur Industrial Estate, while six factories are planned for the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura. These projects will utilize barren lands for industrial growth while safeguarding agricultural lands, reflecting the government’s balanced approach toward development.

International Engagements and Investments

Chaudhry Shafi Hussain shared that he had visited China three times, holding productive meetings with major investment groups. These international engagements aim to attract foreign investments and strengthen Punjab’s position as a hub for industrial and technological growth.

Achievements Compared to the Previous Government

Highlighting the government’s commitment to public welfare, the minister pointed out that the previous PTI government promised six hospitals but failed to complete even one. In contrast, the current government has successfully completed two hospitals in just two years. Such achievements reflect the proactive and results-oriented approach of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s leadership.
