Railways Campaign for Digital Life Certificate Submission

The Indian Railways has launched a special campaign to make it easier for retired railway employees to submit their Digital Life Certificates. This campaign will continue till November 30 and aims to train and assist pensioners in using the digital method for life certificate submission. Every year, retired employees are required to submit their life certificate in November to continue receiving their pension. To simplify this process, the Railways is encouraging the use of the Life Certificate mobile app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices.

Western Railway Chief PRO Vineet Abhishek shared that special seminars and awareness sessions are being held at railway offices, banks, and hospitals across different regions. These sessions will guide pensioners on how to submit their Digital Life Certificates using the Life Certificate app. The initiative aims to ensure that retired employees can complete this process conveniently without visiting offices in person. Over the past three years, a large number of digital certificates have been issued across central and state government departments. Since the Railways are one of the largest government employers, special attention is being given to ensure all pensioners benefit from the digital system.

Importance of Submitting Life Certificates in November

Submitting the life certificate is mandatory for all retired government employees, including those from the Railways, every November. This document serves as proof that the pensioner is alive and eligible to receive pension payments. Earlier, employees had to visit the bank or pension office to submit the certificate manually. However, with the introduction of the Digital Life Certificate, this process has become much easier. Retired employees can now submit their certificates online from the comfort of their homes using their mobile phones.

Pensioners’ Experiences and Online Benefits

Retired teacher Naeem Atiqi shared that pensioners are required to submit their life certificate between November and March 5 each year. The certificate can be obtained from the same bank where the pension account is held. He also mentioned that in recent years, pensioners have been asked to submit the certificate both offline and online through the Jeevan Pramaan web portal. Another retired teacher, Naseem Sir, said that while the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) still asks for offline submissions, the online process is simpler and faster.

Step-by-Step Guide to Upload Your Digital Life Certificate Online

  1. Install the ‘Aadhaar Fee RD’ app from the Google Play Store on your mobile phone.
  2. Download and install the ‘Jeevan Praman App’ from the Play Store.
  3. Open the app and enter the required details, including your Aadhaar number, mobile number, email ID, and bank account details.
  4. Please enter your full name as shown on your Aadhaar card.
  5. Select ‘Municipal Corporation’ as your pension disbursing agency.
  6. Choose ‘Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’ again when prompted.
  7. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter it in the app.
  8. Tick the ‘I agree’ consent box whenever it appears.
  9. Review all the entered information carefully and confirm it.
  10. The app will then open the camera to scan your face. Follow the on-screen instructions and blink your eyes during the scan.
  11. Once the scanning process is complete, a message will appear stating that it has been scanned successfully.
  12. Your Digital Life Certificate will now be generated, showing your photo, Jeevan Pramaan ID, and other details. Download and save it for your records.
  13. Within two to three days, you will receive an email from BMC confirming that your life certificate has been accepted.

For any help or guidance regarding the Digital Life Certificate, retired employees can visit their nearest railway office. Assistance is also available at banks and hospitals where awareness programs are being conducted. The aim is to ensure that no pensioner faces difficulties while submitting their life certificate digitally.

The Digital Life Certificate initiative reflects the government’s focus on simplifying administrative processes and improving transparency.
